I purchased this dvd after seeing the VHS that was available at my school's media center. It was a huge hit with my students and the picture quality was tremendously better! Since I do not have a vcr in my classroom, it had been a big hassle to reserve the tv/vcr cart and plan to get it into the room. The dvd made it possible for me to pop it into my computer and show it through my projector! I viewed the extra footage and interviews myself and found them fascinating. I have not shown the extras to my students as I am not sure that 8th graders are ready for the graphic reality of the bodies piled up at the concentration camps. This dvd made if much easier to locate the scene where each class had left off the day before. I love it and my students were totally thrilled with it!

I have just bought end of december 2009 on Amazon.France a bluray player. I didn't know if it was free zone for the bluray discs. As for the dvds I'm sure it's not zone free. By ordering on Amazon.com this two bluray pairs , I wanted to get a cheap demo for my newly acquired TVHD and bluray player. I was almost sure that these two mini series were not great works of arts, but I didn't care about it. First : my player can read both of them, and I'm very pleased when on the screen I see the FBI advice! I must confess I don't understand all of the talks in the movies because there are no subtitles, even English for the hearing impaired, which is very useful for foreigners (for instance, the bluray 'The Ten Commandments" is very easy to understand). But what is very important in this kind of movies are the CGI effects, so what the actors say ! And my wife who doesn't understand English loves to see these two movies we have not seen in France. As for the bluray pictures, my opinion is that Category 7 is better than Apocalypse 10.5. I only regret that this movie begins with the destruction of the Eiffel Tower in Paris : so my wife and I won't be able any longer to go again to the second story restaurant (the Jules Verne), one of the best in the world ! I regret also that in both movies, Mount Rushmore, we have not yet seen on our trips in the US, is destroyed. It's a pity for the tourism industry of South Dakota(people in North Dakota should not regret I think) My conclusion is that for this moderate price, if you like this kind of movies, you don't lose too much by buying this double bluray discs, and even you learn the existence of the FEMA, I never heard before.A day when you have learned something can be considered a good refund for the small amount of money you gave to Hallmark. But people of Hallmark, next time, try to put at least English subtitles ! Amazon.com, thanks for this bluray demo and the good time spent before the TV screen by both of us.

Let me start out by saying that I love this series, and it looks absolutely fantastic in 1080p. Also, ordering it from here is quite a bit cheaper than picking up this exact same set from a retail store. My problem with it is that this particular version is one disc short of the full set available in the UK, and costs considerably more. In hindsight, I wish I had read more of the reviews, as I now feel a little ripped off, considering that I paid more for a truncated version of this fabulous series. My advice, if you want a series from across the pond, check their amazon site first, it may be a better value.

This is still one of my favorite Christmas movies! No matter how many times I watch it I still laugh uncontrollably! Definitely my favorite out of the National Lampoons vacations! Watching this every year with my brother(his name is Russ too!)and myself quoting it gets annoying for others but it doesn't bother us!-lol.

The only problem I have with this box set is my own fault really because I should have looked closer at the picture when I bought it because I thought I was getting a full size moose mug like in the movie but it's this tiny little figurine instead, oh well. Like I said it was my own fault for not looking closely.

Still an awesome gift set anyway! And the movie is well worth it!

I liked this disc, in spite of a few problems with it (e.g., the background music tends to drown out the narration at the beginning of the disc). The main location for the story is Borneo. Some amazing footage towards the middle of the disc, especially the weirdest-looking caterpillar I have ever seen. It reminded me of the well-known fossil species Hallucigenia. Also, a mantis that looks like a flower (no kidding!). Recommeded.

This movie was so bad, it was painful to watch. The acting was terrible; the plot utterly predictable; and the script horrendous with such gems as: "I'm your dad, and my relationship with your mother has nothing to do with you". The first time our Romeo (John Corbett) stands close to Juliet, (Nia Vardalos) he loudly sniffs her hair like a St. Bernard. She appears oblivious to his probing proboscis though, vacantly staring ahead with a forced smile, as if bravely weathering another bout of PTSD. And there are lots of stupid, slightly mean-spirited gags like our heroine unknowingly standing on a homeless man. Only in a culture with contempt for the poor would that be funny. And when Corbett discovers his former flight attendant girl friend cheating, it reinforces that nasty, obsolete stereotype of all flight attendants being 'easy'. In fact, FAs have unwittingly become the new "Nurse Ratcheds" (`One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest') of the 21st century--But I digress. Nia was excellent in 'My Big, Fat Greek Wedding'. Why couldn't she have left well enough alone?

Good series. Crisp introduction by Funimation for the blu ray release. Stories are intact, uncensored, and are episodic in format. Music is intact, Nujabes whom isn't with us anymore did a great deal of the soundtrack. Layered with hip hop ambient texture, wandering samurai vibe, and a touch classical with a major hint of modernism, is clever. The show produced in 2004 released dually in both Japan and the United States. Geneon released these separate singles, which I didn't get to complete because Geneon and the anime industry collapsed. 2010 finally brings these three discs, sheathed inside 3 plastic bays, housed within a cardboard box.



Screen size for optimum viewing is 32 inch LCD. Anything larger one could start to have issues with blurring, anti aliasing, and screen artifacts. Not sure about the DVD release, but upscale for High Definition is nice, and I hope Funimation figures out how to properly address the blu ray technology encoding process. Problem with blu ray titles with older works is scaling, and the process of which they were made with.



Otherwise if your a fan of Cowboy Bebop, episodic framework, and crazy hip hop house ambient music, this set is a must.

This sequel isn't as good as The Prince and Me. Rather than keeping the winning acting of Julia Stiles, this movie replaces her with Kim Heskin, who has neither looks nor acting ability to recommend her. Where Julia Stiles played the character of Morgan Paige with grace and dignity, Heskin seems like a whinny teen. Even though Malby stayed in the sequel, he seems a much smaller man. In The Prince and Me Malby's King Edvard acted like a true king and took command, holding a cabinet meeting. In The Prince & Me 2 - The Royal Wedding, Malby's king is indistinguishable from any pathetic teen guy.



The only thing that saves The Prince & Me 2 - The Royal Wedding is the plot. It's entertaining enough to smooth over the deteriorating acting. It focuses on a plot by a corrupt uncle to sabotage Paige and Edvard's marriage by raising a legal prohibition against a non-Scandanavian queen. Princess Kirsten, Paige's competition for Edvard's heart, is a breath of fresh air, bringing grace and cunning to the film. Not only is she much better looking than Paige, but she never overacts - until the grand finale.

So many reviews read like the stars or produces wrote them. They give them high marks, then write a two page glowing synopsis of the story. I feel to review a film what is needed is to try to clearly state what is good and what could be improved.

That being said, I feel this was a great movie, with great acting with lots of "action" mental and some violent. It had a good story line, great acting with "you better pay attention twists and turns". I found no faults but would like to have had the woman/wife/girl friend character developed further and use that to make a really happy ending. What he will do next is left to your imagination.

I've always been fond of Cage's movies. The actor has a screen presence and manner that makes even poor material more interesting to watch. And he seemed to have been on a roll since finding National Treasure. Next was the standout surprise of the year for me and Knowing was very entertaining, despite the apparent exploitive indifferene of its director. The same is true of Cage's performance in Bangkok Dangerous; like all great actors, he makes the movie better than it would have been without him. And as such, it's really not a bad film; it just has a really cheap, poorly thought-out finale. I enjoyed the film up to the climax. But, the resolution, aside from being senseless and unimaginitive, left such a bad taste in my mouth that it virtually ruined all the fun I had up to that point.



I've kept the BD around all these months since, intent on giving the movie another chance in the hope that being better prepared will make me more foregiving. But so far, I haven't even been able to muster enough interest to give it that second look, favoring reruns of better all-around better films instead. It definitely should have been a rental instead of a blind-buy.
