"Grease" was released durung the summer of 1978 and became an immediate hit both for its story of young love and its amazing soundtrack. Like "Gone With The Wind", "The Wizard of Oz", and "The Sound of Music", most regard this film as being one of the greatest films Hollywood has ever produced. The movie solidified John Travolta as a movie star and made Olivia Newton-John world famous. The movie's plot is a simple one in that it tells the tale of two people who meet, fall in love despite life's obstacles, and live happily ever after. The story sounds cheesy, but the movie is timeless, as a whole new generation of viewers have come to love it thanks to the DVD and blueray market. The soundtrack is equally good with songs like "You're The One That I Want", "Sandy", "Grease", and "Hopelessly Devoted To You". Marie Osmond was offered the part of Sandy, but turned it down when she realized Sandy was going to become a so-called "bad girl", in which she was depicted as a smoker with large hair wearing a tight black outfit. I am sure Marie regrets not taking the role! The DVD comes with trailers, commentary, interviews, and more.
