I received the New Moon 2 Disc Special Edition and watched it 4 times the first night. It is Amazing. Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Jacob, this was my error, (Taylor Lautner) carried the movie so extraordinarily well. We didn't see much of Edward, but that was OK. Robert Pattinson did a good job as Edward, but he doesn't seem able to fight his was out of a paper bag without help! In the opinion of this 62-year-old grandmother, Taylor Lautner has it all over Robert Pattinson. I also feel Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner deserve more attention for their acting and carrying the film than they are. Be sure to get this movie and enjoy it as much as I have. Thank You.

Frailty is a movie that keeps you guessing `till the very end. We know early on that this is going to be a battle between good and evil, but the tricky part is, you don't know which person is which.

Is the dad the good guy here, acting as a messenger for God? Or is he the bad guy who's using religion to justify murder?

Is the son really the perpetrator here...or the victim?



This movie definitely messes with you. Having the possibility where a child might have to be killed is a tricky plot to have in a story. I've no doubt many people will be bothered by this....especially because of how the child is portrayed throughout the movie. It's not like you have a clearcut evil villain here, like Damian in the movie, "The Omen"...but instead have a scared little boy. Watching this movie made my motherly instincts kick in and I wanted to protect him! By the way, I thought the acting job by the oldest son was exceptional. The other cast members performed well, too.



There's a plot twist at the end that's very shocking and very entertaining...but also a little confusing, too. I mean, I finally understood who was who, but I didn't understand why there was a switch in characters in the first place (I'm trying not to give away the ending).

Anyway, there's not much more to say without giving away the great plot twist. If you're looking for a suspenseful movie that'll keep you guessing, then this movie is worth checking out.

This documentary is total BS. The facts and opinions are totally wrong. I doubt that whoever was responsible for this have even read a single book on Gettysburg.



Heth's troops opened the battle, not Early's.

Little Roundtop was the most important battle feature on the second day, not Culp's hill.

Custer did not "Save the Union". Indeed Grant's victory in Vicksburg did more to end the Civil War than the battle at Gettysburg. Had Meade lost there he would have retreated into Washington's inpenetrable defenses and waited for Grant's army to push Lee away from the district.

I have read in many books about Gettysburg that Lincoln was livid that Meade did not follow up the battle by persuing Lee. Their statements as to a 'discovery' of a hand written telegram regarding this and subsequent opinions was absurd.

Indeed these four "facts" are only the beginning.



Even the material regarding the address was silly.



Avoid this garbage.

This is the first blue-ray version of an operetta that lends itself to detailed stagecraft. It doesn't disappoint on that score. All of the performances are first rate, notably those of Adele and the Prince. Set decoration uses bright flashes of costume colour against a muted background suggestive of Vienna between the Wars. The second act lacks the sparkle we often expect at a live performance, with none of the 'guest appearances' that we often expect, and none of the ensemble dance numbers. The dialogue has been modernized in a way I found appealing [contrary to another review], a long-standing tradition and not at all inappropriate for an audience that (let's face it) that's out late at night on New Year's Eve and likely drinking during the interval. Frosch unfortunately doesn't get to make a topical standup routine.

When the explanation of how the Broly movie was transferred to HD came on, it compared the new footage to the original Japanese footage, and the original Footage looked better. In my opinion, the movies are just better off bought on DVD(at least so far - The Tree of Might may be different). If you want anime on blu-ray save it for Jin-Roh or Akira.

Other than that, the colours are good, however the sound a littled muffled. All in all I'm pleased with the product. It does a great job of a lot of different aspects of surf culture around the globe. Don't know what Neil Diamond has to do with this music, but I'm no Band (or Diamond expert). Another very minor complaint, is in the lack of face-on, close-up, audience cutaways.



Movie will leave asking the questoion: Did Rock actually die with this concert? Very, very soon, it was Disco, fake drums, and MTV. "Rock Clubs" featuring Rock bands on tour would be harder and harder to find.

I remember the mega-hype when THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT came out. I watched it expecting to be terrified, but wound up groaning and rolling my eyes a lot instead. Now, without all of the marketing garbage, ACTIVITY is what I expected it to be. It's an extremely low-budget film w/ tons of mundane dialogue, a few creepy moments, and a big finale. That's it. I liked it ok, but I'm in no hurry to see it again. One thing I will say about that ending though. It's a hell of a lot better than the idiocy at the end of TBWP! I also watched the alternate ending to PA, and definitely prefer the theatrical one. So, don't be manipulated by the hyperbolic mania of the mass media! Otherwise, you may be sorry...

Chan Kwok-wing, the protagonist of "New Police Story," is not (Kevin) Chan Ka-kui, hero of Jackie Chan's Police Story--or so they say. This Chan is older, wiser...and drunker. In short, he's a mess. He's even worse off than Martin Riggs in Lethal Weapon: Our second glimpse of him prominently features several adult beverages. A couple of scenes later, he's facedown in an alley. How the mighty have fallen.



Flash back one year: Chan is the hot dog cop stud, foiling grenade-wielding hostage takers and punching out shady businessmen in a scene that's a sort of Police Story Condensed. Shortly thereafter, Joe (Daniel Wu) and his gang of rich-kid criminals rob a bank and then...call the cops. Just when we start to wonder why the bad guys (and girl) want to stage a blatant open-air shootout in the street a la Heat, instead of escaping when they have the chance, we learn that they're some sort of thrillseekers club, competing among themselves to win the biggest share of the bank loot via a point system. Kill higher-value targets (like, say, cops), get more points and more money.



Chan, cocky with previous success, declares on the TV news that he will apprehend the gang within three hours. Joe, however, has other plans, and when Chan's team "infiltrates" the gang's lair, the gang starts picking them off one by one. When Chan is unable to save them (indeed, Joe has cruelly engineered this foregone outcome), he spirals into depression and self-loathing, distancing himself from both the police force and his fiancée, Ho Yee (Charlie Yeung), whose brother was one of the officers Chan lost. Just as Chan hits rock bottom, a young rookie cop (Nicholas Tse) appears to bring him back into the fold.



In stark contrast to the raw quickie HK action movies of the mid-90s like Man Wanted, for example, NPS is very slick. Beautifully lit and shot, NPS features some mostly excellent visual effects and dynamic cinematography. It's not all gritty back alleys and shuttered storefronts; it's shining chrome and glass and neon. HK has never looked better. Despite all the glitter, however, New Police Story is darker and more twisted than any other Police Story film...or any other Jackie Chan movie, for that matter. OK, so even if this isn't the same series, NPS still features numerous references to the original PS series, including a double-decker bus that crashes through a lot of glass.



A solidly entertaining movie, NPS is, nevertheless, not without its annoying little foibles. For one, logic and physics go out the window--or should I say over the ledge?--immediately. The big action set piece in the beginning relies on that most implausible of movie gimmicks: the real-life video game scenario. Meaning that there are lots of intricate traps and setups that depend too much on people being exactly where they need to be. It's great in the movies, but it would never work in real life, because one misstep breaks the whole chain. Also, there's a little too much unnecessary wirework for my taste.



Not surprisingly, with all the neon, chrome and hot English-speaking hipsters, NPS is more than a little reminiscent of Benny Chan's earlier Gen-X Cops (Benny just loves the HK Convention Centre). As much as I enjoyed the fluffy goodness of GXC, however, in the case of NPS I think there's too much Benny and not enough Jackie.



On the plus side, most of the gunfights are nicely restrained, and the police tactics are more realistic than usual. Perhaps my favorite part of the movie, besides Charlie Yeung's overbite, is a fantastic battle in Legoland between Jackie and Andy On, reminiscent of one of my all-time favorite JC fight scenes: the pachinko parlor fight in the mostly otherwise-forgettable Thunderbolt. And there are some very funny bits that don't go over the top with the comedy. The "ending" was a little on the sappy side, but it still got to me, and the epilogue/flashback was even more resonant and touching.



At last, Jackie shows some real range (and a new hairdo, sort of, thank god). He goes from confident and cocky to subdued, tired and weary--and, holy cow, he gets emotional (and I don't mean just angry). Not once, but multiple times. It's different, but different is good.



The supporting players are well cast. Nicholas Tse is quite appealing here--not the lightweight he was in Gen-X Cops. At first I would have preferred Stephen Fung, but Tse won me over. (There is actually a cameo by Fung in the deleted scenes.) He even gets to play his role for some laughs, which was enjoyable.



The irresistible Charlie Yeung's Ho Yee takes the place of Maggie Cheung's longsuffering May and brings some heart and humor to a role that could have been spectacularly unrewarding. On the other side of the female equation is Charlene Choi, who has obviously discovered the secret of eternal youth. How else to explain why she still appears to be 12 years old? For some gravitas, there's Yu Rong-guang doing his badass straight-arrow cop schtick. A Mandarin speaker, Yu has here been dubbed into Cantonese--but with a distractingly deep voice (I kept thinking of Sonny Chiba in The Storm Riders).



The standout performer here, hands down, is Daniel Wu. He was merely serviceable in GXC, and I didn't dig him in Purple Storm, but after seeing him in NPS, I have a new respect for him as (and I don't use this term lightly) an actor. As the quietly sinister tortured son-slash-criminal mastermind, Wu digs deep and puts it out there. Excellent job, sir.



I wouldn't bet that this will be the last of the Police Story movies, New or otherwise, but if it is, it serves as a fitting bookend. In any case, it's certainly not the last major HK outing we'll see from Jackie Chan. That I'd bet on. Hey, if Robert Redford is still making action-type movies at his advanced age, Jackie can certainly be making them well into his hundreds. And I almost hope he does.

They wanted to give him a writing credit and he refused. He was getting a divorce so so much of it was from his own experiences.

I have just seen the first 3 episodes and I can tell that they are really impresive. It is incredible to watch in full color HD resolution movies filmed during WWII. It is tough too, not for young kids. The battles are clearly narrated and in cronological order so it is easy to get the information and to create a good view of the war scenario.

I have read lots of books and watched many documentaries and I can tell that this is ona of the best.

DAY WATCH is a curious piece of cinema. Yes, it's visually impressive (though less stylised than Night Watch), yes it's packed full of action, and yes it's amazing that all this was done on a tiny budget. But, like its predecessor, it fails to fully engage the viewer. As with Night Watch the film has a staccato structure. The crammed and convoluted plot is constantly manipulated in order to fill the action quotient. Okay, so this is the case with most action movies, but here, when combined with the absence of any really sympathetic characters, it leads to a rather emotionless experience. For the most part this is an example of style over content. That said there's certainly plenty of style.

This is a movie that begs for a spectacular high definition release but this Sony blu-ray falls a little bit short.

Certainly this is one of the most visually stunning films ever made. The colors in this film rival SPEED RACER (and this ain't a Speed Racer sort of movie)! The costumes are never short of dazzling and the set design is so ornate, detailed and opulant that it is difficult to describe. The story is the great stuff of an over the top soap opera and the action scenes are loud and exciting. Chow Yun Fat and Gong Li are superb and Jay Chou is a revelation as the dashing Prince Jai. This is a great film. The blu-ray transfer looks pretty good, but not as good as you might expect it to. The colors are vibrant and beautiful and fine detail is evident in the costumes and long shots but some scenes look a bit soft (perhaps this is a fault of the source print and not the transfer). The soundtrack offers several variations from a Mandarin PCM 5.1, Mandarin Dolby 5.1 and English dub in 5.1. All of it sounds pretty good but nothing really special. Subtitles can be turned on or off for any version. The extras are just ported over from the DVD release with the 3 minute premier being a bore and the short documentary being fairly interesting and informative. Sony didn't seem to go the extra mile for this release and that is a shame because director Zhang Yimou went the extra mile to make an extraordinary and higly entertaining picture.

Beer League is an *extremely* vulgar, obnoxious, and inappropriate film. It's completely distasteful, gross, disrespectful of women (rather strongly) and it's just... a film intended for grown men.



You know, people call these kind of films teenage humor, but would YOU want your teenager watching a film where the sexual content is extremely high around every single turn? I know I wouldn't. Because of that, this is a guy movie.



Hey, I'm a guy and I did enjoy the movie, but there's absolutely no way you can deny how incredibly trashy this kind of humor is.



The storyline is about a team of softball players (grown men with no life) saying the most obnoxious things imaginable to each other (including frequent insults towards each other when someone would mess up a play on the field).



What WAS incredibly funny was the character of a mother always appearing RIGHT when her son was ready to have some disgusting fun with his girlfriend, haha.



This film is complete trash, but satisfying enough to watch it with a group of beer-drinkin', Molly Hatchet-jammin' boys.

Dennis pretty much has everything covered in his extensive review. Just here to say it now one of my favorite Anime titles ever after (arrived today and I just finished it...). Viewed it with the English audio track to not worry about missing visuals while reading subtitles. It is a really well done English dubb. I don't agree with Alejandro's opinion, to me the story actually draws me more in than the visuals. Great sense of friendship and adventure is established and the humor works well. This series has a soul and great feel to it.



With that said, the visuals and audio ARE awesome. Picture is georgeous from my 720P HD projector on a 92" screen and the Dolby True HD soundtrack through my 5.2 HT system was mostly impressive - especially the racing and launch scenes (combination Formula 1 sound with futuristic power plant screaming along nearly brought tears to my eyes and the lauch scenes had some great punch - vibrating the room very well.) Ambient sounds were ok but not spectacular, nowhere near what 5 Centimeters per Second has.



All together it is a title I would highly recommend to anyone; it's one of the best anime titles I've seen. Here's my favorite anime list of the last decade for reference in what I like and find really enjoyable to watch:
