Tokyo is a series of three short films directed by Michel Gondry, Leos Carax, and Joon-ho Bong about the city of Tokyo. In the first film, Interior Design a young couple comes to Tokyo to find a new life and career. The film attempts to show their trials. It has a strange ending which I cannot reveal because the woman is transformed in to something that one has to watch to understand. It was metaphorical but the ending was lost on me

The second film Merde, follows the strange life of a subhuman character who is called Merde and lives in the sewers of Tokyo, coming to surface on a fairly regular basis to wreak havoc on the hapless citizens.

In the final film, Shaking Tokyo a Hikikomori, these are young men and women who are fearful of society and shun any responsibilities that come with being a member of the human race. They shield themselves from interacting with people by hiding in their homes for many years. In this short, a hikikomri finds love at the same time as an earthquake erupts.

If you want like to watch movies for meaning and understanding it by peeling each layer then this might be the movie for you. I wanted entertainment and this movie does not provide it. It was mediocre for me. I will give it a star 1/29/10
