This year's Pulse Fringe Festival in Ipswich promises to be the biggest yet, with over thirty productions from across the country performing over the course of three weeks in venues around Ipswich. Art, music, dance and theatre all combine for this three week festival extravaganza! Here's the inside scoop on some of the productions you can catch in 2008.

From 29th of May to the 14th of June, at venues throughout town, over thirty productions will be featured. These shows range from the comic to the tragic, from poets to adult puppet comedy, and include jazz, dance, and a Nightmare Cafe. Many of these shows are premiere productions, and many will be headed from the East of Anglia to the heart of Edinburgh for the Festival Fringe in August.

Alongside the usual high quality shows, this year's Pulse goers will get the opportunity to participate in the development of some of the UK's most exciting new theatre. 2008's festival will open with Analogue's new work in development, Beachy Head. Having seen this company's show last year, Mile End, which was part of last year's Pulse Pick of The Fringe shows in the Autumn '07 season, I can safely say that you'll definitely appreciate this company's exciting and innovative style.

Another new strand of work for Pulse is the collaboration on Visual Arts work with Town Hall Galleries to present the most exciting new and emerging work from across the region and beyond. For those with more eclectic tastes, it may be worth checking out "hac". It's described as a 'hacked computer programs shrieking and spewing out their internal circuits." It should be interesting, to say the least.

There are so many theatre companies brand new to PULSE and some returning favourites too, a combination that's sure to light up the cultural scene in Ipswich over the festival. The chance to catch some rising stars is at your fingertips in the month of June, as Pulse events take place all month long. If you're new to PULSE - or a "returning favourite" be sure to get your tickets booked and while you're at it, take some risks and book for something that you wouldn't usually!
