#*# Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn Vol. 1 Amazon Exclusive Blu ray

Outstanding we have Gundam on Blu-Ray,

Well not exactly this is a new Gundam OVA and it is released on Blu-Ray and it has an Outstanding Story line, well thought out characters and very cool mecha designs. However with all of the great things going for this series it still is a Bandai America Crap release. Meaning Instead of giving the Gundam fans here in the US and the rest of North America the same quality as our Japanese counterparts they give us a sub par release. It may even be priced the same ( although reality is the Japanese version which is in the same Blu-Ray region is about $20.00 more) but there are jumps in quality in comparison between the 2 releases mostly in the accuracy of the colors ( meaning that the colors on a vibrant or high end HD set will appear washed out if you set your TV to a SD or darker setting it isn't as noticeable on The US release). Now that being said the quality of this Blu-Ray VS the other 2 Blu-Ray offerings ( Escaflownea & Eureka Seven ) does use a higher bit rate to remove pixelation but fails in color accuracy. In the Japanese version the colors do not looked as washed out as they do in the US release in fact the few defects that are in the US Release are no where to found in the Japanese Release. Now this is a better Blu-ray release then Bandai's other Blu-ray to the US market but there is still a lot of room for improvement.

Note my review here is a comparison between the Blu-ray release in the US and in the Japanese market if you want a really thorough review of just the US Blu-Ray edition I would suggest you check out [...] review.

@# The Searchers Blu ray

I never saw the film until this BLU RAY release and I must say...this DVD is worth it's weight in gold. The West never looked better and JOHN FORD made sure of that! Wayne gives an Oscar worthy performance AND yes...he was a great actor! GREAT performances from the whole cast and I was really surprised by JEFF HUNTER! Natalie Wood was fresh from REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE and her sister Lana played Debbie as a small child. All GREAT stuff! GREAT extras too!

More Detail For The Searchers Blu ray

• Working together for the 12th time, John Wayne and director John Ford forged The Searchers into an indelible image of the frontier and the men and women who challenged it. Wayne plays ex-Confederate soldier Ethan Edwards, a believer more in bullets than in words. He's seeking his niece, captured by Comanches who massacred his family. He won't surrender to hunger, thirst, the elements or loneliness

!$ GREAT EXPECTATIONS 1946 BLU RAY

I hired this hoping that the BLU RAY format would do this acclaimed masterpiece the justice it has always deserved - but no such luck.

The print is uniformly awful all the way through - with scratches, blocking, lines, blurring of the image - it's clear that little or no restoration has gone into this. An old DVD version would be just as good.

When you view other fully restored titles on Blu Ray like "Zulu", "2001: A Space Odyssey", "Cool Hand Luke" and "Black Narcissus" (see reviews for the last two) and the wonderful job done on all of the Bond movies (especially the earlier ones) - you realise what a horrible let down for fans this version is. Unfortunately, too many companies are jumping on the BR bandwagon now with oldies, because of course there's a fresh new marketplace for them. Note how clean the image on the box is - when there isn't a single frame on the disc that looks so beautifully cleaned up.

Amazon reviews are there to inform customers - help them make an informed choice; well, one day the British Film Institute will finally get its act together and frame-by-frame restore David Lean's extraordinary works - thereby preserving them properly as the artistic National Treasures they are... But for now, unless you absolutely have to have this, avoid this shoddy reissue.

** Equator 1 Power Of An Ocean As seen on Discover HD Animal Planet Blu ray

Picture quality well below average at places. Disc has two main subjects: Palmyra atoll in the pacific and Galapagos Islands. The coconut crab sequence (Palmyra atoll) very nice, but the Galapagos sequences dissappointing, especially if you have already watched "Galapagos" with Tilda Swinton. Disc not recommended on account of the really bad picture quality at places.

#% Cocoon Blu ray

I am very pleased with the DVD, "Cocoon." The picture came through clearly as did the sound. However, I have been having a problem with a msg. that comes up when I first boot up my computer that has something to do with the disc drive. I'm sure that I can remedy the situation. It won't prevent me from ordering future movies.

#$ Gremlins Blu ray

i loved it. hep hep hep hep hep hep hep hep hep hep hep hep! but i like the sequel better. it's better then the book but complety different. the gremlins were in a lot of stuff. like the two looney tunes falling hare and russian rhapsody. like the book the movie was based on. like nightmare at 20,000 feet, there is something on the wing made me laugh out loud. and the treehouse of horror IV. i remember they were on some tiny toon special. it was funny in madagascar 2 when alex thought mort was a gremlin. in ace ventura 2 i liked when ace said the quote there is something on the wing. i remember when they were in the ghostbusters cartoon. was'nt a gremlin one of stanley's monsters? i laughed when in goonies the police was like '' yeah like the prank when you said there were creatures that multiplied when you get them wet''. none were better than gremlins and gremlins 2. OK bye i'm going to review james and the giant peach.
